OUR STORY

💛 About Us 💛

Our daughter, Kailani, was diagnosed with leukemia at just 3 years old. Over the next 2½ years she endured daily chemotherapy, hospitalizations, surgeries, blood and platelet transfusions, infections, hair loss, muscle weakness, and exhaustion.

During that time, our family met many incredible children and parents facing the same unimaginable journey. One family in particular left a lasting impact on us — their son, Luke, had also been diagnosed with leukemia, and at the time of his diagnosis, his mother was nine months pregnant.

Just days later, while Luke was still in the hospital fighting for his life, their family welcomed a baby girl. Because newborns could not enter the hospital, their family was suddenly separated during one of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Wanting to help, we did what we could — we gathered outgrown baby clothes from Kailani’s closet and gave them to Luke’s family.

It was a small gesture, but it stayed with us. It made us wonder:

What if there was a simple way to support families of children with cancer through something as basic as clothing and comfort items?

At the time, we were still in the middle of Kailani’s treatment and caring for our young children, so we were not able to pursue the idea further. But it never left our hearts.

That experience, along with the overwhelming kindness we received from others during our own journey, became the foundation of something bigger.

Today, both Kailani and Luke are in remission and thriving — cancer-free.

Our Mission Today

Kailani’s Kloset is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to bringing comfort, dignity, and moments of joy to pediatric cancer patients and their siblings through seasonal and holiday-themed clothing programs.  Our primary focus is our annual Halloween costume initiative, which allows children facing cancer — and their siblings — to experience excitement, inclusion, and normalcy during treatment.  In addition to Halloween, we also offer limited seasonal and holiday-themed clothing support throughout the year, such as festive or themed apparel, depending on available community support and resources.

How We Serve Families

We focus on meaningful, manageable programs that reduce stress for families and create joyful moments for children during a difficult time.

  • Annual Halloween Costume Program (primary initiative)

  • Seasonal and holiday-themed clothing support (as resources allow)

  • Community-driven donations and wishlists

A Volunteer-Run Mission

Kailani’s Kloset is proudly volunteer-run, allowing us to keep our operations small, focused, and sustainable. This ensures that community support goes directly toward serving families rather than administrative costs or storage.

 Thank You

We have been on the receiving end of extraordinary kindness from individuals and organizations during our hardest days, and this is our way of giving back.  Thank you for being here, for supporting our mission, and for helping us bring moments of joy to children facing cancer and their families. Your generosity truly makes a difference.
